Song Ideas, anyone? (prize involved)
Guess what? Quiz time! I need song ideas for this year's recital theme. The theme you ask? The 4 Elements...Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.
Most needed are little kid songs. Slow songs too for ballet....
I will pick a winner(how do you win? I don't know, it's my blog and I'll decide:) and he/she will receive a special goody. Perhaps an itunes gift card. Definitely something music related. Ready.Set.Play!

Fire and Rain by James Taylor is the first one that comes to mind for me. Not really a little kids song, but slow enough that it might work for ballet?
Something else I thought of is Boom Diddy Boom (Land of the Silver Birch). It's child friendly, not specific to the four elements, but when I think about the song I get the sense of them being present.
off the top of my head (although this may be stretching it for fire) The Sun is a Mass of Incandescent Gas by They Might be Giants. There is a fast version and a slow version-I bet Ben would especially appreciate this one!
like the rain by clint black comes to mind, right away, but i'll think of some more.
oooh, wave on wave by pat green?
i guess i really like the water ones. ;) i'll keep thinking. i love this sort of challenge...
how about like a rock by bob seger for the earth one? ;) ha!
i don't enjoy it particularly, but there's a song by john anderson that is called 'seminole wind', and that's the first one that popped up when i tried to think of wind ones. ooh, but what about 'blowin' in the wind' by peter paul and mary?? that'd be a good one with kids, maybe...
What about "She's like the Wind". Not a kids tune...but it comes from Pat Swayze..so all is good!! ha! AND Marie...that is the best song...remember..I'm going to teach to it!
This was dinner conversation tonight! Very fun!
kid's songs:
On Top of Old Smoky

Robin in the Rain (Raffi)
older stuff:
Take me to the River (The Commitments version is really cool!)
Disco Inferno (compliments of Russ who can't stop whistling it now...yikes!)
Light my Fire ( might be a bit much )
The Night They Burned Old Dixey Down.
Solid as a Rock (am I showing my age yet?)
Knowing my husband he will probably have a long list ready when I get back from tonight's rehearsal. Too funny indeed!
