Stuff...
My heart hurts by things going on lately at the dance studio. Why do people have to be so negative? Especially in a positive family atmosphere where beautiful innocent children are being filled with the magical art of dance. That's really the focus at a dance studio. A school for dance. A place where learning dance technique occurs. Along with enhancing one's creativity, team building, critical thinking, responsibility, memorization, expression, not to mention technique, balance, poise and flexibility. Bet you didn't know you could get all of that in a dance class. This is why I do what I do, no other reason than to make sure my students acheive one or all of these incredible traits. I do it because I was touched by a dance teacher that wanted these things for me. One who picks teaching dance as a career is not in it for the money(or lack there of). It's not about choosing the costume, music, who gets what solo, 1st or 2nd place in competition, waiting room coffee tables and so much more that it pains me to talk about. When people choose a school for their child whether it be a preschool, elementary school, music class, dance school....it's because they like it and what it has to offer. Not so that they can try to change it and start petitions saying they will pull their kid out if this this and this doesn't happen.(this and this and this being either outlandishly silly never to happen in ANY dance school or things that are on my to do list in the future but patience is a virtue). How about turning around and telling one crowd that, and then telling another crowd the exact opposite. Ummmm, can't stand that. Be real, you know! So I leave you with this, actually I need to go over it myself, over and over again to convince myself once again that I love this.
"Praise His name with dancing."
"Praise His name with dancing and tambourines."
"David danced before the Ark of the Lord."
"Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation."

i'm so sorry...you know i am here for you...
You sound like an amazing dance teacher :) Can I come over for lessons?
(((hugs)))
aw missy. i'm so sorry to hear this.
Those parents need to grow up. As irritating as these people are, you are the one showing them how to behave by your patience and sticking to your principles. They will come around, and if they don't it certainly won't be because of you!
missy - I was thinking about this all yesterday afternoon - mean people suck. What has happened to this new generation of parents? They have no respect for teachers and their children will learn that too.
You teach more than dance and if they don't get that - then they need to take bad attitudes and leave. Hang in there - you have such a beautiful spirit and have the kids best interest in your heart too bad their parents don't see that.
Don't listen. You are amazing and so is your studio. Your teachers are wonderful and let me say that as one of your parents I think you do an outstanding job. Really! Sarah LOVES Miss Jess and dance and you. Remember that He gives us strength when we lean on Him. What a beautiful spirit you have and please please please don't change a single thing!!!
Love you!
I would love for my daughters to go to your studio :) Hang in there, for every bad apple there are like a dozen or so good ones :)
Sus
Thank you all! I love you sooooooo much! XOXOXO
I'm so sorry Missy! I hope that it gets better. I'll pray that it does. I would love to be in your dance school, and if Dan would allow it, I would love for my boys to bo, too. How's Ben feel about that?
Mis-Whatever the heck is going on is stinky. Everyone always wants to have an opinion--and most of them stink. You keep doin your thing! I always like to think of a little thing called KARMA. You know you rock and you make great decisions- it all comes around! I REALLY want to talk and hang next week!

Wanted to add that.
oh Missy I'm sooo sorry.
Stick to your beliefs... you are right on track.
:)
I think you are exactly the right kind of teacher (music, dance, art, math, history, whatever)... just the RIGHT kind.
